[1]In 1910, Romanian King Carol I to reward the loyalty of Muslim Turks and Tatars who fought for Romania in World War I.
[2] He started the construction of Mahmudiye Mosque on its foundations in 1910 and had it completed in 1912.
[3] The architect of the mosque, which was named the King's Mosque because it was commissioned by the King after it was reopened, is a Romanian named Victor Ştefanescu.
